A recent (as in, very) argument about gifts had me think to perhaps post something about gifts. I am not a big fan of wrapped gifts. I am far more into the idea of people spending time together.
I love the holiday season and definitely love scouring the web for fabulous eco-friendly gifts, but sometimes I get completely overwhelmed. With the economy in its lousy state and the fact that we’re trying to be good environmental stewards, we aren’t buying quite as much anymore. There are days when we wish we could forgo the whole gift-buying frenzy and just have a lovely holiday with our family and friends. And who really has time to buy so many gifts and then wrap them? For those of you out there feeling stressed out from having to buy too many presents, maybe it’s time to cut back completely and buy nothing. (more…)
One of the constant battles (and more so as this entity grows) is creating value for you, the reader, without diluting the content. I don’t want to be a blog that creates 15 posts a day on subject matter which has no relevance in your life. I also realise many of you are a little addicted and want fresh content on a daily basis. A good mix between sport, life, humor and things to keep you thinking.
Creating value for you to come back drives you back this way, and hopefully, gets you to do that great viral marketing thing for me, telling your friends about something you read on here, and sharing it. The greatness of this is that I can affect someones life in a positive way without ever having come in contact with them. That will continuously amaze me.
I trawl the web looking for good topics and pictures after hours looking for things that might make you gasp or think about a moment in your past which really rocked. I research methods of training, coaching and racing. Indeed, I am always learning about how to live life and create meaning from the way I live my life. I am looking for ways to stay focused and motivated to achieve my goals. I share all of these things with you. I am not an eternal source of knowledge but luckily I love to learn. (more…)
Does the picture describe your vibe right now? I am finding so many negative people around me lately, must be to do with the time of year.
Its near the end of year and for most of us, we are still at work. The lucky few who are on holiday already, enjoy. I will be there soon. If your vibe is negative and your glass is half empty, I urge you to take a step back and just push for this last week or two, because then your glass will be full again.
But you need to start being positive now, so that by the time holiday starts, your glass is already on the full side and it just so much easier to fill a half full glass than start on the empty side.
I know I need to perk up a little. I have been at a year end function or racing for the last 5 days and I this week is jam packed with the same again. Where did my peaceful little existence go? I feel like I need a holiday!
Did I just say that? Doh! There, point proven. Even I need to top by glass up so that my recharge can start a little faster once the holiday kicks in.
You all know I love dogs. They make me happy. I got passed this video via le web about a cracker of a Jack Russel, so instead of an upside down dog this week, you get a rocking little guy.
His owner is clearly South African, so you`ll love the commentary as the little guy gets more and more excited.
When the author cracks a “oh my sack” I am officially on the floor bellowing out laughter.
Have a great weekend!

Take for example the picture below, which I’m sure many of you have seen. It is a photo taken from the bottom of the Beijing pool, and it shows, on your left, Michael Phelps, on his way to his 7th gold medal, and on your right, Milorad Cavic of Serbia, on his way to a silver medal in the 100m butterfly event.
Had you not seen this race, however, you’d be tempted to tell me that I’ve mixed up my right and left. There is no way, surely, that Cavic, on your right, can lose this race. He has led for 99.5 m of a 100m race, and is centimeters from the wall. But Phelps touched first, by 1/100th of a second, in one of the moments of the Games.
Next year I will be racing for a cause. I looked quite long and hard to come up with something that had an athletic link and was perhaps (in a dream world) triathlon orientated.
I found Athletes for a Cure.
Lets have a quick look at their promo video shall we?

kif.
Athletes for a Cure. is a fundraising and awareness program of the Prostate Cancer Foundation. It is designed to assist individual athletes in their quest to raise money for better treatments and a cure for prostate cancer.
I will be sharing more information in the coming weeks, this was a quick intro…

Courage is not something that comes from flying to your heart in moments of need or in emergencies. Courage is not something that can be handed over to you through lessons either.
Courage is a way of life. It is as much a habit as anything else. Like getting up and brushing your teeth in the morning, or drinking coffee. (more…)
There is always this period when I get back into training that I can feel the muscles are now starting to respond after being off for a bit (injury, Ironman
, motivation are all reasons for time off). There is a difference in the power of the contractions, a little more spring in my daily step as I trot off to the shops around lunchtime to find something carnivorous to devour. (more…)

Been testing some of these…
They are amazing and make an actual difference. Full reports later this week!
