I think the fact that Lance arrived in a skin suit, averaged 56km/h and only rode 15 odd seconds into an Ironman guy shows the strength and power Chris Lieto has in him. Well done Chris for keeping us Ironman guys in the loop with arguably the best cyclist of all time.
I loved the comment from Lance that they will have another showdown, in a few years, in October…..

Il mostro, PUMA’s Volvo Ocean Race sailing yacht, finished their maiden Volvo Ocean Race, “the Everest of Sailing”, in second place on 27 June 2009 in St. Petersburg, Russia.
click the picture for a bigger view of that amazing picture
The Volvo Ocean Race is a 37,000 nautical mile (68,524 km) round the world adventure and is one of the world’s toughest sporting events.
PUMA’s eye-catching sailing yacht “il mostro”, the innovative PUMA Sailing Collections, the innovative marketing initiatives launched at the numerous stop-over ports, PUMA City and the successful performance of the PUMA Ocean Racing Crew generated extensive media coverage that more than offset PUMA’s investment in the Volvo Ocean Race.
PUMA used the 11 port destinations of the Race to activate complex onshore marketing strategies. PUMA used every single race location – Alicante, Cape Town, Cochin in India, Singapore, Qingdao in China, Rio de Janeiro, Boston, Galway in Ireland, Marstrand in Sweden, Stockholm and finally St. Petersburg – to not only position PUMA as a Sailing brand, but to convey PUMA’s overall brand message, creating visibility for other PUMA categories through media and star-studded events. Such activities have set a new marketing benchmark in the growing sport of sailing. At the same time, while the sport of sailing is often perceived to be very exclusive, PUMA aimed to break down this misconception. The PUMA Ocean Racing campaign has successfully begun to broaden the sports’ audiences, with an inclusive, fun outlook on the sport.
The Volvo Ocean Race was the perfect platform to launch the PUMA Sailing performance and lifestyle collections and reach new target consumers. PUMA launched a full range of nautical inspired apparel, footwear and accessories, from offshore sailing gear to onshore lifestyle fashion.
One of the readers of this blog, a certain Paul Kaye commented on the start, and the finish, of the Volvo Oean Race this year. Kif that!
Awesome eh. I got suckered into some Sailing Performance Gear yesterday as well. Check out my Posterous account to see what I mean.
Posterous is a great way to have a mini-blog, with pictures & videos. So, keep checking my Posterous account for updates on some more intimate pictures about what’s going on in my movements. Its quite similar to my Twitter account, but instead of 140 characters, its pictures and sounds.
Bye!
People always remark how busy I am. After I watched this today it made me wonder if I am one of those people who are addicted to being busy.
What keeps me busy?
1. Work – current and future projects.
2. Coaching athletes – its far more time consuming than you think.
3. Urban Ninja – this site is time consuming.
4. Relationships – nuff said. relationships, with humans, requires time.
What have I done to cut down on commitments to time and energy?
1. Kept my projects down to a bare minimum. I used to have 6 ideas I was working on. I currently have 2.
2. Reduce social media time. Are you addicted to Facebook? Do you wake up and look at twitter (to see what other people are doing) before tending to the amazing person lying next to you?
3. Reduce mental junk by planning properly.
Am I addicted to being busy?
Not at all. In fact, I am working hard so that I can be permanently unbusy once I have children so that I can be a full time dad. That’s the most honorable job I can think of doing, so that’s what gets me up in the morning.
Can you sit, and be quiet? I know many people who cant sit in a restaurant waiting for 10minutes for someone to arrive without tweeting, facebooking, checking email, sending 3 sms’s and calling someone. Unless all these things don’t relate to your BIG THING, big picture and hugest ever goal achievement, maybe you should be sitting for 10 minutes and just be totally amazed at how the world doesn’t fall apart around you every day. Watch the people and realise they each have their own world going on around them, and if they are addicted to being busy, watch them and see how it destroys their inner peace, their reason for being a beautiful human being and blurs their reality.
So, are you addicted?
now that is the list of people with the most followers…how many do you have? Nice to see Lance cracking a top 10 there.
For those of you who still don’t know what Twitter is, just go to www.twitter.com and sign in. From there you can search for people to “follow” and every time they tweet or whatever you want to call it, it will show up on your Twiter page. So you can follow me as a starting point (click HERE for that) and then check out the people I’m following / following me, and add some of them as well if you want. You’ll find the likes of John Cleese , Stephen Fry , Britney Spears (I know), Snoop Dogg , Christopher Walken and then tons of our local Twitter crew, including professionals in every sphere.
And THEN, once you start Twitting (anything you want, ideas, thoughts, photos), people will start to follow YOU! Every time YOU tweet it will show up on their page. Then you can go even further and download it (Twitter software) onto your phone and twit from there. If you see something funny, you can snap a pic and send out a message with the pic – which everyone following you will see. If they like it, they can do a “retweet” which will forward the message to all of their “followers”. Some of their followers might enjoy it and start following you as well.
It’s quite fun and fiercely viral. Very useful if you “think out the box.”
When you start getting used to it then you can download Twitter software (I use Tweetdeck ) for your computer which provides a live feed of all twits that you’re following, as well as your own, and replies to your tweets.
In fact, MOST of the online blogging to do with tuesday night’s Cape Town fire, originated on Twitter – with people near the fire taking pics and sending to their Twitter, eventually spiraling onto the blogs like I posted on Wednesday.
You like?
Get involved. Go to Twitter, sign on, start following me, and take it from there!
Ciao.
SO, I follow Lance on insert text that will display as the link here Twitter and if you`re not on twitter….poo on you.
Right this second, he has posted the first full pics of his new bike for the Tour Down Under via his cell camera. This, for you…. ahead of the media.
Blogging rocks.
On Twitter, I got this update from Lance Armstrong (I follow his twits, he has not yet made the wise decision to follow mine) yesterday which simply stated
“This is what it looks like from our perspective” with a URL link. I clicked it and was amazed to see he was micro blogging from the launch of the Astana team and the picture was their view of all the press that were there. Quite a cool image don’t you think?
I think its quite cool that Lance allows us into his private life and quite relishes it by giving us up to date information on what he`s doing. He is a smart guy and I am sure he has a good angle on this whole comeback of his.
Late addition : Found this pic on Pezcyclingnews : Could it be that moment?
